Changes to the XG effect types for Reverb, Chorus and Variation Effect can be made from the right-hand
side of the Mixer page. This is only available though if you are working in Multi (XG) Mode. As you know, in
Performance Mode the current Performance effect settings (Reverb and Chorus) are always in effect, includ-
ing for Parts 5 - 16. The Variation Effect however is only available to the Performance Parts.
The default Mixer settings “XG” (bottom right) should not normally be changed. One thing you absolutely
should avoid is to perform a Mixer RESET in the middle of a running song production. This doesn’t just reset
the Mixer values to their defaults - it also changes the CS2x into Multi (XG) Mode!
Working with Cubase Mixer Maps
The Mixer Maps are opened by double-clicking the Mixer track’s channel with the left mouse button.
The Mixer Maps are set to REPLACE mode in the Song Setups. This means that in contrast to the LOCAL
Mode, the faders aren’t reset every time the Mixer Map is called up. The Mixer events already stored in the
Mixer tracks” parts are constantly updated during fader movements.
The INIT Part “XGon+PFIni” should only be played back when beginning a song production. Once done you
can mute the Init track and start the song afresh so that the Mixer events and Bank/Program changes
become effective. Playing the INIT Parts at every song start would cause the Mixer settings to deviate from
the CS2x parameter settings.
If, whilst working with Mixer Maps, you wish to play at the CS2x, proceed as follows:
1. Select channel/track “MIDI Thru”.
2. Double-click the desired Mixer Part (e.g. “Performer”) (the “MIDI Thru” track stays selected).
3. Set the send MIDI channel with TRAN CH (Utility) at the CS2x.
The EDIT page is opened by double-clicking the Part “VoiceGen”. Once the Dump has been sent, initiate the
“Basic”
Snapshot
(above the OP Level) to reset the faders to the “Basic” Performance settings.
Should you wish to use the PERFORMER in parallel with the “Perf Control” page for song production, you
need to delete the channel for the Performance Part in the previously mentioned page, otherwise some
Events will be doubled and presumably won’t match in value.
